A Tour Of Spain
Spain occupies a prime
place on the tourist map of Europe. In fact, tourism is one of the most
flourishing industries of Spain. Spain is situated on the north western
side of Europe. With Gibraltar on one side, Portugal and France are the
other neighbors of Spain.
Places of interest:
Tourists have the general opinion that Spain has beautiful beaches. This
is true. But the horizon of tourism also extends beyond to the main land.
The beaches in Spain are beautiful; apart from this the beaches are
maintained perfectly well. That is the reason why many of the beaches in
Spain (for example some of those on the Costa Blanca) have been awarded
blue flag in recognition of their perfect maintenance. The water in these
busy beaches is crystal clear which can be called as the litmus test about
their maintenance. Apart from this, many beaches have coves which are
believed to have been formed centuries ago.
When one travels to the main land, he is mesmerized by the rich
vegetation, tall mountains and villages with narrow but beautifully
planned and cobbled streets. Houses in some of the villages are
whitewashed and these houses have roof gardens. There are many heritage
buildings which attract the attention of every tourist. Every town in
Spain has some or the other heritage building built either during the
Roman period or the Moorish civilization.
The government of Spain has made all efforts to preserve many of these
heritage buildings. Tourists normally make Barcelona as the first
preference. There are many other places for visitors to see like Madrid –
the capital of Spain, Malaga, Salamanca, Valencia, Zamora and Santander
which attract large number of visitors throughout the year. In short, it
can be said that there is no town or village in Spain which does not
attract tourists.
Another important aspect of tourism industry in Spain is the museums.
Every city and most of the villages have museums which depict the history
of the place. Most of these museums have collection of paintings of some
of the most renowned artists of Spain. Many of the villages and towns have
caves where the tourists can find paintings which are believed to belong
to the 10th century.
Diversity in geography is another uniqueness of Spain. Some of the
religious practices followed by Romans and Moors can be followed even to
this day among some of the groups in Spain. There are many villas,
apartments and hotels which offer luxurious stay and mouth watering
cuisine for the tourists. |
